A prayer request was released on 28 December 2011 to people staying outside and inside Burma by the Chin National Front (CNF) for stability and peace with the new Burmese government, which has been in conflict over the last six decades with the ethnic armed groups.

“I pray every day for reconciliation in Burma,” said a Pastor of the Gospel Baptist Church from inside Burma.

CNF representatives and government officials will meet in Hakha, the capital of Chin State between 5 to 6 January 2012 and delegations from both sides will start state level peace talks.

The CNF urged the Chin people to start praying from 1 to 7 January, but actually, some Christian churches have already started to pray for the country after getting information that the CNF and the Burmese government will initiate the peace talk process.

“Peace is the will of God, and I desire that the conflict should end through mediation,” said a church leader from Mizoram, Northeast India.

At the same time, the CNF also requested Mizo churches in Mizoram to pray for peace in Burma.

It learnt that Mr. Sui Khar, Joint Secretary General of CNF will lead a party delegation and Colonel Zaw Min Oo, Minister of Border Security will lead the government side for peace talks.

The meeting is the result of talks between a CNF delegation led by Pu Zing Cung and Dr. Sui Khar and government Railway Minister Aung Min in November in Mae Sai, Thailand.

The CNF has already selected 10 members to be led by Mr Sui Khar after the first extraordinary conference held on the Indo-Burma border from December 12 to 16. Khonumthung news
