A regime shell killed three people in Kalay, Sagaing Region. According to locals, the army fired at least five shells last Saturday night.

One of them hit near a house near Agape Hospital in Tar Han ward, killing two women and a man.

“Last night there was a power blackout. A shell hit in front of the victims’ house when they were sitting on the balcony and they were struck by shrapnel,” a local told Khonumthung News on condition of anonymity.

Two were killed instantly and the third person died several hours later.

The oldest woman was 45 years old. Her 27-year-old son was also killed, as was a displaced 23-year-old woman from Minkin with a 7-month-old baby.

She is survived by her husband and the baby.

The same night, another shell injured another woman in another village in western Kalay, who is receiving medical attention at the hospital.

The Burma Army shelled Tahan ward three times in May.

Houses were shelled on 10 and 25 May, injuring two people.
