At least 57 soldiers from the regime’s armed forces have been killed and 26 injured in the past two months of fighting with resistance groups fighting to overthrow Burma’s military dictatorship in southern Chin State and Hsaw Township in Magwe Region, according to the Chinland Defence Force (CDF).
The CDF chapter based in Kanpetlet in southern Chin State reported that clashes with the Burma Army (BA) occurred nine times between 23 January and 28 February.
Seven clashes took place in Masa Twi, Swel Lwe Cing, Cin Dwe, Ah Paw villages and Kanpetlet town, the rest in Magwe Region.
Only one resistance fighter was killed, according to CDF, while one civilian was killed by BA shelling in Kanpetlet Township.
The regime torched at least four houses and looted properties in Maw Chaung, and two oxen were also killed.
The CDF fought the BA with the support of the People’s Defence Forces from Kanpetlet, Hsaw, Yaw, Daai and the Chin National Front’s armed wing, the Chin National Army.
Another group, the Chin National Defence Force (CNDF), reported five battles against the regime in Falam Township in northern Chin State and Kalay Township in Sagaing Region in February.
The group said at least 51 BA soldiers were killed and nearly 50 wounded during the fighting, while the CNDF lost only two of its fighters.
