Three Burma Army soldiers (BA), including an officer, were killed and others wounded in a morning clash with the Chinland Defence Force (CDF) on the Matupi-Hakha road in southern Chin State.
According to the Matupi CDF spokesperson, they suffered no casualties in the skirmish on Tuesday between Pha Nai and Nga Lai villages in Matup Township that forced the BA column to retreat.
Another clash occurred in the evening, but he was not sure if any regime soldiers were killed.
On Monday, the spokesperson said at least 5 BA soldiers were killed and 10 wounded when the civilian resistance fighters attacked their Htel Bwe camp next to the Matupi-Paletwa road. Two junta soldiers were captured alive.
The clashes come at a time when the regime has tightened its security protocols in Matupi town.
The spokesperson told Khonumthung News that the junta soldiers have been going door to door to check the family registry and have detained at least 10 people, including some former government employees who joined the protest movement against the dictatorship.
“Before the new year, three youths were arrested by BA and detained in their camp on suspicion of having links to the resistance,” he said.
Khonumthung News could not independently confirm this information.
Last May, CDF formed chapters across Chin State to protect protesters who were peacefully demonstrating against the dictatorship.
After the BA attacked CDF and launched an all-out assault on civilians, many of the demonstrators joined the armed resistance.
