The regime injured at least 10 people, including women and children, during a retaliatory airstrike in Falam Township that followed an attack on a northern Chin State army base by several resistance forces.

The Chin National Army (CNA), which is the armed wing of the Chin National Front, and the Kalay, Kabaw, Gangaw Chin Defence Force (CDF), attacked Infantry Battalion 268 in Falam town for almost two hours on 12 August.

Salai Cung Ngai, the spokesperson for the Chin National Defense Force, told the Khonumthung News that although he wasn’t briefed about the attack, he heard that a soldier from the CDF was killed.

At least six junta members were reportedly killed, and resistance forces seized 4 MA-3 rifles, 360-mm mortars, 2 machine guns, 2 RPG launchers, and ammunition for a 0.5 mm heavy machine gun during the surprise attack.

The next day, IB-268 fired 120mm, 80mm, and 40mm mortars at villages from morning until noontime, injuring three people from the same family in Sunthla.

The mother suffered leg injuries, her 10-year-old daughter sustained a head injury, and her 18-year-old son’s back was hurt.

A regime jet fighter attacked Ramthlo on the Falam – Hakha road at around 11 am on the same day as the attack.
