Chin fighters have regained control of Taingen, a crucial village in northern Chin State, during fierce clashes that forced soldiers under the Military Council to retreat.
Chinland Defense Force – CDM-Siyin (CDF CDM-Siyin) reported that they and other armed groups aligned under the Chinland Government and Chinland Council used drones, heavy weapons, and snipers to overwhelm the enemy in the village located on the Kale – Tedim road in Tedim Township.
“They were unable to defend against our attacks and retreated towards Kale town yesterday,” said a CDF CDM-Siyin spokesperson, adding that they arrived in Khaikam town a day later on June 27 using a jungle road instead of the main one out of fear of further attacks.
The Military Council had deployed three trucks from Kale town and over 100 soldiers from Tedim town, arriving in Taingen on June 21 to retake their camp, which had been captured by the resistance five days earlier.
Facing attacks along the way and suffering high casualties, they torched 23 homes, including a church and school upon their arrival in the village.
CDF CDM-Siyin reported they will assist homeowners whose properties were damaged or destroyed to rebuild their homes.
Despite regaining control of Taingen, the resistance groups have decided not to reopen the road to Kale. Situated on the trading road connecting Kale in Sagaing Region and the India border, Taingen village is strategically and economically significant.
The Chin resistance groups involved in retaking the village include Chin National Army, CDF Hualngoram, Vakok Battalion, Kale-Kabaw-Gangaw Battalion, Kale SR-4, People’s Defense Army, and CDF CDM-Siyin.
