On Wednesday, Burma army shelling killed three civilians, including two children, in northern Kale Township, Sagaing Region.

At 4 pm, two artillery shells struck Tuingo (also known as Pyin Taw Oo), resulting in the deaths of two ten-year-olds and a 65-year-old man. Another child is in critical condition due to the bombing.

The town, inhabited by ethnic Chin, is approximately 12 miles from Kale town, where clashes between the regime and People’s Defence Forces have intensified, affecting the town and other areas of the township.

In early April, the junta deployed several army columns in northern Kale Township. The soldiers have reportedly been looting and torching homes in Pyin Khon Gyi, Yok Cho Kwin, and Mai Nwet. All of these villages are situated along the Kale–Letpan Chaung highway.

Civilians have sought refuge in the jungle or with their relatives in other villages, Kale town, or near the India border.
