United Nations Development Program (UNDP) will support female-headed households; those were affected by natural disaster last four months in 10 villages, Hakha township in Chin state by the end of December 2015.

While reviewing the supports that had given to some villages in Hakha township from August 2015, U Tin Ngein, in-charge of Livelihood and Social Cohesion program under UNDP said, “We had assisted 5 villages in Hakha township. Now we had extended 5 more villages and we had listed female-headed households for supporting.”

The support deals with repairing water supply system, road construction and giving capital for pig/poultry farms in order to maintain their livelihood.

The UNDP supported villages are Loklung, Chun Cung, Hriarlawn, Bualtak, Tiphul, Buanlung, Tinam, Cinkhua, Aive and Rinpi in Hakha township.

“We found out some weak points on our previous work, especially in pig and poultry farm. We had discussed and directly decided to raise pig/poultry farm consulting with the officials in our poultry farm and agriculture department on the demand of villagers.” he added.

UNDP, however, is arranging to give training on raising pig/poultry farm to the villagers before the project start.

UNDP has been located in Hakha capital of Chin state since 1997 to do the development of Chin state.
