Chin resistance fighters are searching for State Administration Council (SAC) soldiers who managed to flee after their camp was captured during an offensive in Matupi Township. Many civilians forced from their homes in Paletwa Township are in urgent need of emergency support, a problem that’s only getting worse after fighting between Arakan Army (AA) and State Administration Council (SAC) has started up again in southern Chin State. The military regime tried to retake Khampat in Tamu Township, Sagaing Region, from resistance groups, launching airstrikes on the town for five consecutive days starting on December 10. Fighting has escalated between resistance forces and soldiers from State Administration Council (SAC) in Sami (also spelled Samee) in Paletwa Township, located in southern Chin State. “I think 90 percent of residents have fled the clashes, with many people taking shelter in remote villages or hiding in the jungle,” said a resident. Military forces under the State Administration Council (SAC) have killed at least 9 people and injured 35 others in Mindat Township through 67 airstrikes, artillery strikes and other attacks in 2023, according to Mindat Chinland Defence Force (CDF), a Chin armed group opposing SAC forces in southern Chin State. On Friday, Chinland Defense Force (CDF) launched an attack on a State Administration Council (SAC) camp in southern Chin State during a failed attempt to seize their camp outside the town of Matupi. “There were more soldiers at the camp than our troops,” explained a CDF information officer.
