As the regime’s forces continue to keep a stranglehold on Mutupi and nothing is allowed to enter or leave the town in southern Chin State, the prices of everything have risen exponentially. “People are starting to run out of food and if they continue to close all roads next week, there will probably be no fuel left in Mutupi,” a resident told Khonumthung News on condition of anonymity. The regime-controlled MPT and ATOM Myanmar telecommunication networks were suspended last week in the northern townships of Chin State and in Sagaing Region, where violence has been happening with resistance forces fighting to topple the military regime. “Without phone or internet connection, it impedes our work,” a man affected by the shutdown told Khonumthung News on condition of anonymity. The regime’s armed forces sealed off the town of Mutupi and imposed a travel ban on the township of the same name in southern Chin State, with the exception of the army, of course.
