The Chiland Defense Force – Kalay Kabaw Gangaw (CDF-KKG) announced on 15 April that it had successfully seized control of four military council bases situated between Kale and Gangaw over the course of two months, as part of the CDF-KKG Major Operation that began in February 2025.
The CDF-KKG stated that group training for the operation commenced in 2024, with its execution beginning in February 2025. They successfully captured the military council’s bases located between Kale and Gangaw, including Kanparni, Hmantaw, Aungthaya (East and West), and the Kyanthar village, which is under the control of Pyu Saw Htee.
In a statement, the Chinland Defense Force – Kalay Kabaw Gangaw (CDF-KKG) announced that the entire CDF-KKG Major Operation was conducted under the military command of the Chin National Army (CNA).
In its statement, the CDF-KKG announced that it took control of the Kanparni camp, noted as one of the strongest and most fortified military council bases located between Kale and Gangaw, on 12 February. Additionally, they seized control of base camps between Hmantaw village and Aung Tha Yar village (West) before 15 February, and the Pyu Saw Htee-controlled Kyanthar village on the afternoon of 11 April.
According to the CDF-KKG’s statement, during the fighting between Kale and Gangaw, the military council launched a total of 19 counter-offensives and conducted over 1,000 aerial bombings using Y12 and Y8 aircraft, as well as jet fighters. These bombings targeted both the battlefield and villages where there was no active fighting.
The airstrike killed at least 15 innocent civilians and injured more than 40 others, according to a statement from the CDF-KKG.
Additionally, the aerial bombings caused significant destruction, damaging over 60 public hospitals, schools, religious buildings, and homes. This violence has displaced approximately 20,000 people from more than 12 villages, with more than half of these individuals still remaining displaced.
In the statement, it said we honor and remember the martyred comrades of the CDF-KKG and various allied organizations who sacrificed their lives, the soldiers who lost their limbs, and the wounded soldiers who were injured during the CDF-KKG Major Operation. The statement also expressed respect and honor for the courage, diligence, and hard work of the comrades who fought with all their might until victory was achieved.
The CDF-KKG Major Operation was jointly conducted by allied forces including the Chin National Army (CNA), CDF-Hakha, CDF-Thangtlang, CDF CDM – Siyin, ABSDF, Yaw Region Liberation Front, CDF – Senthang, Naga Nyinaung, Hanthawaddy PDF, MCR, PDF Vakok, and RKDF.
The CDF-KKG has warned that it will soon continue to attack the remaining military council camps between Kalay and Gangaw, as well as the Pyu Saw Htee-controlled villages, and it will continue to fight against terrorist military councils in their active areas in Chin State, Sagaing Region, and Magway Region, in collaboration with partner resistance forces.
