The Chin Brotherhoods Alliance has driven the Burma army from Kyatwee after a 54-day offensive operation to gain control of the town in southern Chin State.
“Our troops are attempting to arrest the Burma army soldiers, who have abandoned their military camp,” Salai Htun Ling Thang, the brigade commander of Kanpetlet Chinland Defence Force (CDF), told Khonumthung News.
With assistance from the Arakan Army (AA), Chin Brotherhoods Alliance, People’s Defense Force, Yaw Defense Force, General Z Army, and Local People’s Defense Force, the alliance captured the camp and town on the morning of April 29 in Kyatwee town of Kanpetlet Township, marking its first joint operation since its establishment.
According to the Chin Brotherhoods Alliance, the regime launched 320 air attacks against them during the operation in the strategic area near Magwe Region and Rakhine State.
When asked about casualties, Salai Htun Ling Thang refused to answer.
The military used aircraft to deploy fresh troops, equipment, and food rations, as they couldn’t send them by land without being ambushed.
Despite being outgunned and grappling with dwindling ammunition, the resistance groups refused to relent their offensive that began on December 22. Thirty assault rifles were recovered from the enemy.
The CDF and People’s Defence Forces in Chin State merged to establish the Chin Brotherhoods Alliance on March 7.
The Chin Brotherhoods Alliance expressed gratitude to supporters and all revolutionary forces and expressed pride in the bravery and discipline during the offensive operation. It also paid respect to the fallen soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the battle, as well as the injured soldiers during the clash in Kyatwee.
The Chin Brotherhoods Alliance was formed with the Chin National Defense Force, Mindat Chinland Defense Force, Maraland Defense Force, Kanpetlet Chinland Defense Force, and Matupi CDF’s Brigade 1.
