The Chin People’s Union/Chin People’s Army (CPU/CPA) and the Interim Khumi Affairs Coordination Council/Paletwa Council (IKACC/PC), both Chin resistance groups based in southern Chin State, held their first meeting to explore possible cooperation, according to IKACC.

On March 25, CPU/CPA officials met with the IKACC/PC Alliance Relations delegation in Matupi Town, Chin State, where they held constructive discussions, according to an April 22 statement from IKACC.

Both sides discussed possible areas of cooperation, including the shared use of logistical routes in southern Chin State during the revolution, IKACC said, citing delegation leader Salai Paul.

IKACC/PC said it seeks to build strong partnerships not only with CPU/CPA but also with other Chin resistance forces and armed groups in neighbouring regions, and voiced hope that Chin groups would eventually come together to form a coalition.

The Matupi meeting was attended by CPU/CPA chairperson Salai Than Chun Pe, while the IKACC/PC delegation was led by IKACC general secretary Salai Paul.

Prior to the meeting, in February, members of the CPU/CPA Central Executive Committee led by chairperson Salai Than Chun Pe visited Arakan (Rakhine) State and met leaders of the United League of Arakan/Arakan Army (ULA/AA) to discuss political, military, and trade and economic issues.

CPU/CPD was formed on November 15, 2025, through the merger of four southern Chin State resistance groups: Chinland Defense Force–Mindat (CDF–Mindat), Chinland Defense Force–Kanpetlet (CDF–Kanpetlet), Chinland Defense Force–Matupi (CDF–Matupi), and the Daai Regional Council (DRC), with the aim of leading and strengthening regional military and political efforts.

Meanwhile, IKACC/PC is a Chin resistance group based in Paletwa Township in southern Chin State and is currently a member of both the Chinland Council and the Government of Chinland.
