The ruling Military Council has once again launched airstrikes on Teik Nel 2, dropping 500 lb shells during two bombing missions in Mindat Township on May 1, according to the local People’s Administration.
A man from Mindat town said 500 lb bombs struck a village at around 5:30 pm. Another shell landed in the jungle at about 11 pm, said Ko Yaw Mang from the People’s Administration, where no one was killed or injured.
The regime killed 5 civilians and injured 30 during two airstrikes on the patient ward of Vum Thu hospital in Teik Nel-2 on April 25. That same day, another jet fighter bombarded a village and surrounding area with shells.
Since the coup over three years ago, junta airstrikes have killed at least 56 people, including children, and destroyed 8 churches, 4 monasteries, and at least 88 homes in the township.
