Soldiers from State Administration Council (SAC) detained people from the village of Hewa, outside of Sami in Paletwa Township in the middle of November.
The individuals were picked up after Chin National Army (CNA) clashed with SAC troops near the area.
An anonymous source told Khonumthung News that the victims are ordinary farmers who have nothing to do with CNA’s ambush on a guard station in Sami a few days before they were abducted by SAC.
“I think they will interrogate these villagers about the clash that occurred near the town,” the man said, explaining that the four people were taken to the SAC camp in Sami.
According to Salai Htet Ni, spokesperson of CNA’s political wing, Chin National Front, his soldiers attacked SAC troops in the town’s Barwa Ward, which is close to the village of Hewa in early November.
Four SAC soldiers were reportedly killed, and three assault rifles were captured during the ambush.
A mother who was shot during the fighting between the groups was rushed to Paletwa Public Hospital, where she is recovering.
